1 Our approach
This site uses as few cookies as possible. Nothing that is not strictly necessary is set until you consent, and if you decline, analytics simply do not run. Declining does not reduce the functionality of the site in any way.

3 Changing your mind
You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, which removes the stored choice and causes the notice to appear again. You can also block or delete cookies entirely through your browser; the site will continue to work.
4 Third-party content
Some pages embed video hosted by third parties, and those providers may set their own cookies when you play a video. We do not control those cookies. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may log the request; no cookie is set for this purpose.
5 Why we keep this minimal
Many of the people who use this site do so on a metered mobile connection, and some are reading about gender-based violence on a shared or borrowed device. Both are reasons to store as little as possible.
We therefore set no analytics cookie unless you consent, run no advertising or retargeting trackers at all, and embed no social media widgets that would track you across other sites. If you decline, nothing on this site stops working.
6 Browsing safely on a shared device
If you are reading this site on a device that other people use, be aware that your browser keeps a history regardless of anything we do. Most browsers offer a private or incognito window that leaves no history, and all of them allow history to be cleared.
Clearing this site's data in your browser settings also removes the small items listed above, including your language choice and your cookie decision — which means the notice will appear again on your next visit.
