NGO Jobs in Cameroon

Work with a Cameroonian organisation delivering seven programmes across the Northwest and Southwest Regions. We publish every vacancy here, and we never charge anyone to apply.

Current vacancies

We have no vacancies open at this moment. Roles are posted here as they arise, and expressions of interest are genuinely read.

We recruit as funding is confirmed, which means vacancies appear at short notice. If your background fits one of the functions below, write to us now rather than waiting — we keep expressions of interest on file for twelve months and contact people directly when a matching role opens.

Functions we recruit

Our organisational framework sets out the management structure we are building towards. These are the roles that structure contains.

01

Programmes Manager

Oversees delivery across all seven thematic pillars, coordinates field teams, and holds responsibility for programme quality against our MEAL framework.

02

GBV and Protection Officer

Leads safe space operations, survivor case management and referral pathways. Requires demonstrable experience of survivor-centred practice under the IASC Guidelines.

03

Education Officer

Manages girl-child education: bursary selection and verification, re-enrolment outreach, adolescent girls clubs and school partnerships.

04

WASH and Environment Officer

Oversees water point rehabilitation, sanitation construction, menstrual hygiene management in schools, and community environmental campaigns.

05

Livelihoods Officer

Manages Village Savings and Loan Association networks, vocational training programmes and start-up micro-grant administration.

06

Health Expert

Manages health programmes and ensures healthcare pathways are reachable for underprivileged people in our communities.

07

Finance and Administration Officer

Budgets, accounts, procurement and legal compliance — the function that holds financial authority separately from programme authority.

08

Communications and Fundraising Officer

Social media, donor relations, public advocacy and the production of reporting that satisfies institutional funders.

09

Secretary-General

An elected Bureau position: records, governance compliance, General Assembly administration and institutional memory.

How to apply

What gets an application shortlisted

We shortlist against the criteria printed in the vacancy announcement, in order. A criterion that is not clearly evidenced scores nothing, even where a candidate obviously holds the skill. This is not bureaucracy for its own sake — it is how a small panel stays fair between candidates it does and does not already know.

Practical guidance

  1. Mirror the announcement. Address each stated requirement explicitly, using the same vocabulary.
  2. Lead with evidence, not adjectives. Replace 'excellent communication skills' with what you did, for whom, and what changed.
  3. Quantify honestly — beneficiaries reached, sessions facilitated, budget managed, reports produced.
  4. Keep the CV to two or three pages, with relevant experience first even if it is not the most recent.
  5. Name referees who will answer their phone, and tell them to expect a call.
  6. Send exactly what is asked for, in the format requested, before the deadline.

What we value beyond the CV

Working English and French widens what you can do here considerably, because our communities are Anglophone and our national-level reporting frequently is not. Familiarity with safeguarding and PSEA obligations is expected even in non-programme roles. And candidates who have actually worked in the Northwest or Southwest Regions understand things about distance, cost and trust that cannot be learned from a briefing.

If you have no NGO experience

Start with us as a volunteer or intern. Local organisations are the realistic entry point into the sector, and we recruit from our own volunteer pool when roles arise. Three to six months of documented contribution with a named supervisor changes an application materially.

Selection process

Shortlisting against published criteria, an interview with a panel of at least two people, reference checks proportionate to the role, and enhanced background checks for any role involving contact with children or survivors of violence. Every appointment is conditional on signing our code of conduct, safeguarding and PSEA commitments.

A warning about recruitment fraud

Women's Light Foundation never charges anyone to apply for a role, to be interviewed, to volunteer or to intern, and never requests payment to a personal account. Any such request made in our name is fraudulent. Please report it to contact@womenslight.org so we can act on it.

Frequently asked questions

Do you charge a fee to apply for a job?

Never. Women's Light Foundation does not charge candidates to apply, to be interviewed, or to process recruitment paperwork, and we never request payment to a personal account. Any such request made in our name is fraudulent and should be reported to contact@womenslight.org.

Where are your roles based?

Our head office is at Campaign Street, Buea, in the Southwest Region, with a second base in Bamenda in the Northwest Region. Most roles involve regular travel to communities across both regions, and some are field-based rather than office-based.

Do I need to speak both English and French?

Not for every role, but it widens what is open to you considerably. Our communities are largely Anglophone while national-level engagement with ministries, UN agencies and donors frequently happens in French. Bilingual candidates are able to work across both, which is often decisive.

Can I apply speculatively when nothing is advertised?

Yes, and we encourage it. We recruit as funding is confirmed, which means roles appear at short notice. Expressions of interest are kept for twelve months and we contact people directly when a matching role opens. Write to info@womenslight.org saying what you can do and which communities you want to serve.

Do you offer remote roles?

Programme roles require presence in the communities we serve. Some support functions — grant research, proposal editing, translation between English and French, data analysis, design — can be done remotely, and we welcome skills-based contributions on that basis.
