1 Who we are

Women's Light Foundation is a Cameroonian community-based association registered under Law No. 90/053 of 19 December 1990, with its head office at Campaign Street, Buea, Southwest Region, Cameroon. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

For any question about this policy or about your personal data, contact contact@womenslight.org.

We collect only what we need for a stated purpose.

We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect special category data through this website. Where a programme participant shares sensitive information with us offline, it is governed by our Data Protection Policy and our safeguarding commitments, not by this page.

3 Lawful basis

  • Consent — for the newsletter and for analytics cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — for responding to enquiries, assessing applications, and keeping the site secure.
  • Legal obligation — for retaining donation records to satisfy accounting and audit requirements.

4 How long we keep it

  • Enquiries — up to 24 months after the matter is closed.
  • Newsletter subscriptions — until you unsubscribe, plus a suppression record so we do not contact you again in error.
  • Donation records — as required by Cameroonian accounting and audit obligations, normally ten years.
  • Unsuccessful applications — 12 months, so we can contact you about similar roles, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Server logs — 90 days.

5 Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf under instruction — for example email delivery, payment processing and website hosting — and where we are legally required to disclose it.

Some providers may process data outside Cameroon. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure an appropriate level of protection.

6 Your rights

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy.
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Ask us to delete your data where we have no continuing lawful reason to keep it.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, including unsubscribing from the newsletter.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Ask us to restrict processing while a dispute is resolved.

Write to contact@womenslight.org. We respond within 30 days, and we do not charge for a reasonable request.

7 Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a child through it. Where a child participates in our programmes, information about them is collected offline with the informed consent of a parent or guardian and is governed by our Child Protection and Data Protection policies.

8 Security and changes

The site is served over HTTPS, access to personal data is limited to personnel who need it, and we review our arrangements periodically. No system is perfectly secure, and we will inform affected individuals promptly where a breach is likely to put them at risk.

Material changes to this policy will be reflected in the version and effective date shown in the document status panel.
