Practical guidance and evidence on gender-based violence, girls' education, water and sanitation, women's livelihoods and working in Cameroon's NGO sector — written by the team delivering the programmes.
This blog carries practical guidance and evidence rather than announcements. It is written by the team delivering the programmes, and it exists because a great deal of useful knowledge about working in Cameroon's development sector is held informally and passed on by word of mouth, if at all.
Statistics are attributed to their sources. Where we state a figure from our own programmes, we say what it measures and over what period. Where the evidence is thin or contested, we say so rather than presenting a convenient number as settled.
On gender-based violence specifically, we keep prevalence data and service data distinct. A rise in recorded cases after a safe space opens reflects improved access, not worsening violence, and reporting the two as one misleads badly.
