Leadership & Governance
Women's Light Foundation is governed by its members through a General Assembly, led by an elected Bureau, and advised by a voluntary Board of Advisors — the structure required of a registered association under Cameroonian law.
As a community-based association registered under Law No. 90/053 of 19 December 1990, Women's Light Foundation is accountable first to its members and to the communities it serves. Our governance is deliberately simple and transparent: decisions of consequence are taken by the General Assembly, day-to-day leadership rests with an elected Bureau, and independent expertise is provided by a voluntary Board of Advisors.
How decisions are made
- The General Assembly is the supreme decision-making body, composed of all registered members. It meets at least once each year, approves the accounts, and elects the Bureau.
- The Bureau, or Executive Committee, is elected by the General Assembly and is responsible for leadership between assemblies. It comprises the President, Vice-President, Secretary-General, Treasurer and Advisors.
- The Board of Advisors is a voluntary body of legal, financial, gender and development experts who guide strategic direction without holding executive authority.
- Management staff lead the seven thematic pillars and report to the President.
