Events and Community Activities

Community dialogues, town halls, training sessions, campaign days and public engagements.

The events we run

  • Community dialogues and town halls, where findings about a community are discussed with that community and with local authorities.
  • Awareness campaigns tied to international days, including World Menstrual Hygiene Day and the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
  • Skills training sessions and certificate ceremonies for young people.
  • Village Savings and Loan Association formation and training meetings.
  • School environmental club activities, including tree planting days.
  • Community clean-up campaigns.
  • The Foundation's General Assembly, held at least once each year.

How our calendar is set

Events are scheduled around community availability rather than fixed months in advance. A town hall called when farmers are harvesting, or a training session timed against school hours, will be poorly attended no matter how well publicised — so dates are agreed with communities first and announced second, usually a few weeks ahead.

Accessibility

We select accessible venues where they exist, provide information in formats people can use, and set meeting times and locations so that women with care responsibilities can actually attend. If you need an adjustment in order to take part in something listed here, tell us and we will arrange it.

Our events are conducted in English or French, and frequently in both. Where a community's working language is neither, we arrange interpretation rather than proceeding without it.

Attending as a partner or observer

Government officials, UN agency staff, donors, researchers and peer organisations are welcome at our community dialogues and town halls, with one condition: these forums exist so that communities can speak frankly about what is and is not working, including about us. Observers are asked to attend as participants in that conversation rather than as an audience, and not to record proceedings without the consent of those present.

Safeguarding at events

Every event involving children or survivors of violence is planned with our child protection and PSEA commitments applied in advance rather than assumed. Personnel and volunteers present are briefed beforehand. Photography requires informed consent, and no image is published that could identify a child's home or school, or identify a survivor.

No events listed at present

Community dialogues, town halls, training sessions and campaign days are published here as they are scheduled. Our calendar is built around community availability rather than fixed in advance, so events are usually announced a few weeks ahead.
